The only thing that would have scared me in this situation is my fellow passengers. Not following instructions happens constantly and can get people killed. Clueless ignorance is pandemic in our society.
You're absolutely right RJ. In many evacuations the biggest risk isn’t the aircraft, it’s hesitation and people stopping to grab bags. Every second matters. Slides can become unusable quickly if the flow stops. That’s why crews repeat the command “Leave everything behind.” It’s not a suggestion,it’s what keeps everyone moving and safe.
