I've watched the May Day episode re this incident. I still can't believe that this pilot could function at all -- or that long -- suddenly plunged into 200+ mph winds in his face at sub-zero temperature. And he couldn't hear a thing or access his oxygen, as I recall. Hero pilot.
Thank you again for the reminder that those on the flight deck aren’t the only members of the crew who are intensely trained and prepared to handle catastrophic situations. The cabin crew, generally under-respected as common wait staff, are also carefully chosen and prepared to protect passengers during the worst inflight scenarios. We owe them all our respect and cooperation.
Based on what you've shared with us, I hope the pilot(s) are focused on aviation, navigation, and assessment. No time for talking. A rif on the Bee Gee's Stayin' Alive: 'Well, you can tell by the way I fly my plane, I'm a pilot, no time to talk.' Ok, sorry 'bout that.
